The Centre for Older People was established by the Galway Unit of the Ambulance Corps in 1972. The Centre has grown to become the main charitable work of the Galway Unit and is operated and managed entirely by the volunteer members of the unit.
The Centre operates three evenings a week throughout the year. Clients are collected from their home, transported to and from the Centre in the Unit's Mini-Bus. This service provides those attending the opportunity to meet, chat and socialise with people of their own age group, while enjoying the company of the Unit members. Clients are served refreshments followed by entertainment.
During the summer months outings are organised on a regular basis.
An annual holiday is organised in May of each year.
